MEXICAN RESTAURANT (BECKENHAM)

OPENING SOON!!

We had great fun transforming a former sushi restaurant into a contemporary Mexican venue in the heart of Beckenham High Street. The brief was to create an authentic, immersive experience, one that offers a sense of escapism to the remote regions of rural Mexico.
The design leans heavily on texture and materiality. Walls are finished with a stucco-effect wallcovering, while terracotta blockwork is used to define and separate spaces. Giant cacti set within richly textured planters immediately transport guests to faraway landscapes. Papier-mâché lampshades, oversized vases housed within alcoves, and subtle ethnic motifs introduce further layers of depth and character.
The furniture layout, centred around linear banquette seating, along with a carefully considered lighting strategy, was crucial in achieving a space that feels warm, welcoming, and atmospheric, without detracting from the true star of the show: the vibrant, colourful food. Designing this fantastic venue has been a real privilege.
